Additional Guidelines
How do I submit a game to MochiAds?
New to MochiAds? Learn more about the benefits and sign up.
May I submit more than one game?
Yes. You may submit as many games as you would like that adhere to the contest rules and guidelines.
How do I use MochiAds Version Control and Encryption service
(and why should I)?
Version control allows you to make updates like game improvements and bug fixes from one location, all over the Internet. As an added bonus, using this service has encryption added in as well. Any developer with a MochiAds account can use the service.
An added benefit of using version control and encryption is that you can leverage the ability to dynamically make updates to your game in order to more easily sell and manage non-exclusive rights to your game.
To add MochiAds Version Control and Encryption to your game:
- Sign in to MochiAds
- Click the “Add New Game” tab to setup a new game.
- Select ‘Yes’ to add Version Control.
- Follow the steps on the screen to upload and customize your Flash game.
- For more info, visit MochiLand.
May I modify the game after it has been submitted?
Yes. That is the beauty of Version Control. You may edit and modify your game up until the submission deadline date: midnight, December 31st, 2008 PST.
Is there a contest theme?
Nope, we want you to be your creative best so we will not be limiting the entries to a specific theme.
When will winners be announced?
Winners of the Flash Game Walk of Fame contest will be announced the week of January 26th.
If I enter my game into this contest, am I agreeing to get it sponsored by ArcadeTown?
If you are not one of the winners, you aren’t entering a sponsorship agreement with ArcadeTown. Your game submission will run an ArcadeTown ad only when your game runs on the contest submission page. You will retain all rights to sell and/or distribute your game as you like.
If you are chosen as one of the contest winners, you are given the option to decline or accept decline the ArcadeTown sponsorship.
If you choose to decline the sponsorship, you will forfeit the sponsorship money for the contest as well as placement as one of the five winning games.
If you choose to accept the sponsorship, you will win (and therefore enter) a limited exclusive sponsorship agreement with ArcadeTown, which entails the following:
- You'll be required to add ArcadeTown links and logos to your game, which you can easily do using MochiAds Version Control and Encryption. As with most sponsorships, these links and logos will likely be integrated into your game’s intro .swf, "more games" menu selection, "add this game to your site" main menu link, logo to the menu, and, if applicable, the game screen and high-score integration. All links of these links will lead to a special URL, which you will be given via email once you are notified of your contest win.
- You'll keep running MochiAds in your game, and continue to gain ad revenue from your game as you normally would.
- You'll retain rights to resell site-locked versions of your winning game to other sites, free of ArcadeTown branding, beginning 14 days after the release of the ArcadeTown version of your game.
- You'll give ArcadeTown exclusive rights to distribute non-site locked versions of your winning game.
If I win the contest, can I still sell site-locked versions of my winning game?
Yes. You'll retain rights to resell site-locked versions of your winning game to other sites, free of ArcadeTown branding, beginning 14 days after the completion and release of the ArcadeTown version.
May I win more than one sponsorship?
Yes. A developer may win multiple sponsorships if their games are selected as contest winners.
What is the $500 travel credit for?
The $500 travel credit is for the winning developer to reimburse flight and travel-related costs to attend Flash Gaming Summit in March 2009. If the 1st winner is unable to attend, they will not receive cash $500 but the credit will be offered to the next place winner.
