Not so long time ago, just 17 months, one good man, who was not happy at his work, stumble upon my blog. And He thought: 'lets give it a shot!' His effort was not wasted, and even more - he is top-hit developer now. Welcome - Johnny-K!

imageimageimageimageimageimage

Johnny-K has shared his stats for 2009 year. Very good numbers - 125k$(gross). He released 6 games. 20% money came from Ads, 3% - from portal, rest from exclusives. Yes, you read it right - exclusives only - no time-wasting for non-exclusives or url-locks. If you have hit-game on hand - don`t waste your time. So far Johnny-K is a happy owner of: portal, blog, studio 2-3 people(including himself)+1 freelance-artist. All 2009 year has been working with Bubblebox

only. Reasons are very simple - money, trust, positive experience. And Johnny-K started to do as all we did - from ground zero - he hadn't even known flash before read my blog.

  • Main genre of his games - cannons and puzzles.
  • Main feature - physic, based on box2d.

Great tnx to Johnny-K for sharing his stats, and best of luck!

I think, Johnny shared his stats, due to reason that he started his flash-career from my blog. In some way - it quite natural =)

idea is not just share plain numbers - but experience along - like how you achieve that, what games you made, how much times and with who you have worked.

125k USD ist quite low for these 6 six games. They are of high quality (my favorite is Roly-Poly Monsters) and I am sure he will increase his numbers further.

125k USD ist quite low for these 6 six games.

That looks like 1 game re-skinned a few times.

21 thousand dollars per game is low? You've got to be joking.

No matter if reskinning is used, he can market them as six games, six times exclusives aswell. If they were even a reskinn he minimized his fixed costs, that's clever.

And yes, I think 21k$ are low if you look at his games. They are fun, they are a bit strange, but they're addicting. So I think he will make much more out of future titles. If he even manages to create a more powerful IP then his numbers will increase even more.

I don't know what is normal with free to play games, but regarding to our experience (most successful game we did gained nearly 83k$ so far), there's a lot of money in the market. And if you go for killer-good-games like Red Remover or Cyclomaniacs then I think these will perform a lot better. Can't wait to play Red Remover on the iphone :-)

Edit: If I would have a good game and are looking for an exclusive sponsor it may be a good idea to head over to Bubblebox and present them your game.

yes, and don't accept anything less than 10k USD.

I still think they aren't referring to USD.

If you have the right game, yes. But it depends fully on your game and what target group your sponsor aims at.

1 Russian ruble = 0.033481 U.S. dollars

125k x 0.033481 = $4185.125 USD

Now that sounds a little more on track with what I'm seeing, and is still pretty impressive from my point of view :)

What are you on about?

Translate from the source using google toolbar:

  1. Oh, and money. In 2008, I, of course, is pledged not to spread over the income, but the outcome is the outcome. In 2009 my work has brought about 125 thousand U.S. (including - advertising, that is earned on advertising, more than 25 thousand). It is possible that by April, when turned 2 years of my flash work, gross income exceeds 200 thousand (hoped-for mega-project has already mentioned).

As you can see he clearly states his earnings are in USD.
